The National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) is a program of the Australian Sports Commission and recognised by the Australian and all State and Territory Governments.

State Government, providers of public venues, and State Departments of Education, are progressively adopting policies that require persons teaching martial arts within their premises to be accredited.  One example is Police-Citizens Youth Clubs (PCYC) both in Queensland and NSW.

An accredited teacher has provided evidence to satisfy the membership criteria of the Federation.  In addition he or she has successfully completed an approved accreditation course specific to our members.  This course will have included: learning and development, risk management, appropriate legislation, biomechanics, physical development, group management, health and safety, principles of skill analysis, and more. Accredited teachers Level 2 and above have also qualified in first aid.

Under the Federation’s NCAS program there are 4 Levels of accreditation. However, the first 2 levels are most common: assistant coach, and coach.

An accredited teacher has agreed to a criminal history check and working with children checks where required.  He or she has signed an agreement to abide by a ‘Code of Ethics/Behaviour’ approved by the Australian Sports Commission.

The Australian Jujitsu Federation is the only recognised authority to provide and administer accreditation within the martial art styles of jujitsu - traditional and modern. Plus the related martial arts of: aikido, aiki jujitsu, Brazilian jiu jitsu, hapkido, kenpo, and for self defence.
